Stances of TaeKwon-Do
The Basic Principles of Stance are as follows:
-
Keep the Back Straight
-
Relax the Shoulders
-
Tense the Abdomen
-
Maintain a Correct Facing
-
Maintain Correct Equilibrium and Weight Distribution
-
Make Proper use of Knee Spring
The Stance is described as being ‘Left’ or ‘Right’ depending on which leg has the most weight placed upon it. Eg.For an L Stance, this would be the back leg.
If the weight distribution is equal, this description then depends upon whichever leg is forwards Eg. For Walking Stance with Left Leg in Front, this is a Left walking stance.
